Bring a raffle prize, or get into your local pub/ restaurant/ hair dresser/ bike shop and blag something from them for a good cause!”
BNECC member John Forbes undertook the challenge of the national 400km (250 mile) audax in Norfolk on the 16th and 17th June 2012. Of the 120 who had entered, only 75 started, the others put off by the bad weather, particularly the strong wind. Many riders were struggling early on as the first 100 miles were into a headwind. John rode 3/4 of the event on his own and was the fastest finisher with a time of 15 hours 45, 2 hours ahead of the next rider.
John is now taking part in the National 24 hour championships which are being held in our region in two weeks time.
The next BNECC club meeting is Wednesday 11th July, 2012 at 8pm. The venue is the Church Hall (next to the Seven Stars pub) in Thornton Hough.
The next club TT is a 10 mile event on the Pulford course on Wednesday 4th July. HQ is the Straight Mile with first person off at 7.15pm.
The last in the TLI Tuesday night events was held on the Allostock circuit on the 26/6/12. Three BNECC members rode the event, Mike Garner and Scott Smith in the under 45 age category and Steve Molyneux in the 45-54 age category. In the under 45 age category, Andy Prince (Stafford RC) won the event by breaking away from the field on the first lap. Mike Garner was second following his break away from the bunch with half a lap to go. Steve Molyneux, in the 45-54 age category, was in a break and gained a 4th place.

A successful night for BNECC at the West Cheshire 10 mile TT held on the Pulford course. Andrew Saunders was 2nd with a time of 21.08 and Mike Garner 4th with 21.19. Mark Donnelly also rode with a time of 22.10. The event was won by David Williams (Wrexham Fibrax) with 20.50.
Birkenhead North End’s Scott Smith gained a 3rd place in the 40-49 age category in event 2 of the TLI Oulton Park Series. For full results click here.
The last of the Cheshire events was held at the Lower Withington circuit on Tuesday 29th May. Three BNECC members rode the event , Keith Jones, Mike Garner and Scott Smith. Due to a mistake at the finishing line riders had to complete an extra lap of the circuit! Scott Smith was our only placed rider getting 2nd in the 40-44 age category.
