Go-Ride Race 5

The TLI national road race championships were held on Sunday 9th September at the Worleston circuit. Four BNECC riders took part in the afternoon races. The first race was espoirs, seniors, M1 and M2 and the 2nd race was for category A & B riders. Keith Jones won the first race and the M2 category after getting into a three man break on the first lap.  Mike Garner was 5th in the same race winning the M1 category. In the 2nd race Steve Molyneux came 4th in the category B race and Scott Smith 6th in the category A race.

The Welsh MTB XC championships were held on the 2nd September 2012 in Coed-y-Brenin. BNECC’s Rob and Craig Rogers both rode in the event in the Youth A and under 12s race respectively. Craig won the under 12s event and is now the Welsh MTB XC champion in this age category. Rob also finished 4th in the Youth A category and 2nd in the Welsh Championships.

BNECC’s Max Spedding broke away from the bunch in the boys under 16 race to gain a well deserved 1st place in the Marsh Tracks criterium on Wednesday 29th August.

Wednesday evening saw the 21st of the Marsh Tracks series in Rhyl. Three of the club’s young riders had a very successful evening! Gaining 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the boys youth category  A race. Results were:

1st – Rob Rogers

2nd – Jack Hulme

3rd – Max Spedding

The velodrome at Knowsley will be opening in September with the following events:

Monday – Liverpool Century club night,

Tuesday – BMX (a new club),

Wednesday – Prescot Eagle club night,

Thursday – BMX,

Friday – Track League.

They plan an accreditation process for those not already accredited at Manchester , so there will have to be regular Taster sessions for track novices, which means they are looking for track coaches locally. They are still reviewing how many public/ club bookings will be on offer and a price structure.

Bikes will not be available to hire when the track opens. However, eventually bike hire will be available.

A number of BNECC members rode the Litherland Circuit Event on the 8/8/12. Craig Rogers won the under12 boys event, with his older brother, Rob, and Jack Hulme coming 2nd and 4th respectively in the under 16 boys event.

Keith Boardman is running the annual 5 mile TT events through August. The signing on point is the large layby on Clatterbridge Road next to Benty Heath Lane. First person off is at 7.15pm. The dates and type of event for each date are as follows:

7th August – Aero

14th August – Retro (non-aero)

21st August – Aero

28th August – Retro (non-aero)

There are no prizes – this is just for fun!
