DOWN UNDER
Just to let you know how I am getting along down under. Where the moon is back to front and the water goes down the plug hole the wrong way round, if you did not already know.
I get out on the bike three times each week very hard rides with a small group. We usually cover 50 to 75 miles. I am the oldest one in the group and that is why I find it so hard. The rides are all training rides and are usually through and of at a fast pace until a finishing sprint for the coffee shop, when we regroup. We always ride in shorts as the temperature is never to cold. We are now in the first month of spring and the temperature is in the low 70F just good for the cycling. I race on Sundays but not every week.
Results so far are:
June 16th 36km RR very hilly 4th.
July 14th 25km TT 4th on standard.
Aug 18th 67km RR First through a small town at 55km
Sep 15th 32km RR AGE DIVISION ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS 3rd and a bronze
medal.
All my other races I have finished in the bunch, and I have not ridden any more TT races.
Sep 22nd, we were introduced to bush walking, to see all the massive variety of wild flowers. This walk was organised by the Lions Club that my wife and I belong to. It was a wonderful experience and finished with a good old Australian Barbecue.
Please remember me to all those who remember Vicki and me, as we have now been here 10 months and it has been one big holiday.
All the very best to every one.
Sid Old.
