March 2003
Eddie Soens
The 2003 Eddie Soens Memorial Handicap had a decent turnout of North End riders. Jeff Vernon, Andy Massey and Ian Boult all finished "in the bunch", but Tim Kay (son of Peter and making his North Ender debut) was involved in a crash and had someone ride over his arm as he was getting up! This resulted in a fractured arm, but also (as someone pointed out to me at club) more of a mention than if hed just finished "in the bunch"!
Hope to see you back racing soon Tim!

Kit order
Dave Newby is delighted to say that the second order of kit has come in. This includes the altered jerseys from the first order. To prevent a steady trickle of members to his house, he would like everyone who has items to collect to come along to the clubroom on Thursday 27th March where he will distribute the orders. Bring your cheque books!
Subscriptions
Treasurer Peter Hudson would like to remind all members who have not yet paid their 2003 subs that the club rules state that members who have not renewed their subs by the end of March will be liable for the joining fee of £5. Send your cheques (payable to BNECC) to Peter at 22 Rectory Lane, Llanferres, Flintshire, CH7 5SR.
Marshalling Rota
The Marshalling Rota is now available. Click on the Events button in the panel on the left to view it, or click here. Thanks to everyone who contacted me to select their preferred events - I hope that those of you who have been assigned one will be able to fulfil the slot. Please note that if you are unable to make the event it is your responsibility to organise a replacement - dont just not turn up. The club was fined £50 by British Cycling for failing to fulfil our designated slot in the Divisional Championships last year. And if you fail to turn up for one of our events, we risk having it cancelled should the police decide to check that were doing our jobs properly. Which is not nice.
Regular reminders of upcoming duties will be posted in each months newsletter, and a team of dedicated chasers will be making sure that you know whats expected of you.
Time Trial Entry Forms
All time trialling club members should be aware that entries for all time trials run under Cycling Time Trials must be on the new CTT entry form, rather than the old RTTC one. Any entries submitted on the old form will be rejected.
Time Trial secretary Pete Byrne has the new forms, and they are also available from the CTT website, www.ctt.org.uk, as well as from the Download page here.
2003 Time Trials
(By Steve Gauller)
Last year was my first full season and as the season progresses you may or may not stumble across events that are part of a series or a qualifying event for either LTTCA or WTTCA. In a number of cases we missed out on team prizes because we simply didn't have enough riders, allowing other teams to take the prize with some mediocre performances. So if you are going to have a go this year try and aim for some of the following events where you are likely to bump in to some familiar and friendly North Enders. This info is for the LTTCA Qualifying events and Championships for 2003 - if anyone has got the WCTTCA info please get it on the newsletter.
Junior Championship - open to junior riders who
complete 2 of the eight qualifying 25 mile time trials (Best
average speed)
Senior Championship - open to senior riders who complete a
25, 50, 100 and 12 hr ride from the qualifying events.
Middle Distance Championship - open to all Riders who
complete a 10, 25 and 50 from the qualifying events.
Association Trophies are awarded to the overall Senior and Junior Champions, to the team winners in the MSW 50, Chester 50, Shrops 100, WCTTCA Sep 25 , 12 hour and Anfield 100, as well as individual trophies for fastest in the WCTTCA Sep 25 and 12hr.
