WCRA WOMENS ROAD RACE SERIES.

Race 2 was held in Nottinghamshire on Sunday 21st May. Rachel Heal (BNECC), gaining confidence with every race she rides, won a tight sprint ahead of two other riders she was in the break with, to take the 50mile race. Leaving the sprint until 150 metres into the headwind, Rachel came round Sara Dean who led out the sprint and Charlotte Goldsmith finished on Rachel's wheel to take second.


V.T.T.A

The V.T.T.A Millennium 25TT was ridden by 6 North Enders on Wed 7th June. Mike Daly, Sid Old, Bill Hanson, Alan Johnstone, Doug Watson and Peter Byrne all did very good times on the sporting course in Shropshire. Peter Byrne won the event with a 1:00:43, Bill Hanson was first on standard and Mike Daly took the handicap. All trophies were presented by the National President Doreen Mahar.


T.L.I

The TLI championships were held on 4th June at Denbigh. The veterans event took place in the morning. The best performance was by Dave Parry who was just pipped on the line after a late solo break in the over 50s race and had to be happy with a silver medal. Clive Walmlsey, Geoff Brandt and Peter Byrne also rode.

In the afternoon all the other categories raced over 50miles Chris Byrne won the race beating all by 3 minutes to take the junior prize. Andrew Massey, Andrew Christie, Ian Boult and Roger Van Egmond also rode.


ANFIELD BC 100

The 100 was held on 29th May. Second last year, Neil Peart (on the edge RC) went one better this year to win the event with 3:57:33. John Moor took third place with a 4:11:04. The North end also won the team prize with John leading, Ian Hawkins was the second man with a 4:52:47 and Les Kennedy was the third man with a 5:19:32.


W.C.T.T.A

The West Cheshire held their 50mile TT on the 14th May. It was won by Rick Laws in a 1:55:02 with John Moore second with a 1:56:02 this was a personal best for John Moore on a hard course. Birkenhead north end took another team prize with Peter Byrne 2:03:43 and Les Kennedy 2:06:40 both Peter and Les riding there first 50. Ian Hawkins unluckily snapped his chain. Mike Daly also rode.

The first 24 was held on the 16th May with a cool overcast evening, with a fresh breeze.

KIRKBY TRACK LEAGUE

Kirkby track league is now under way, Geoff Brandt’s riding well and well up there in the scoring table. David Berry wins nearly every race he rides in the juvenile section with James Hartley backing him up. With the North West champs coming up soon held at Kirkby they're all expected to get up there and win medals.
