Kirkby Track League

Geoff wanted this in the March newsletter - unfortunately it was a little late in arriving!

The League kicks off again on Wednesday 2nd April & runs until Wednesday 20th August. Registration costs £15 for Seniors and £5 for Juveniles, entry per meeting is £5 for Seniors and £3 for Juveniles. Help the League survive the possible demolition of Kirkby track, without the right numbers this season the facility may not be replaced.

This is brilliant training whatever your discipline, get to ride with Gethin Butler (or just watch the man!).

I can collect up to 3 riders from Lime St on Wednesday evenings at 6.30pm - ring 652 0217.

Racing Results

North Enders have been getting some decent results lately.

Mark Gibson contacted me to let me know that he was victorious in his first race of the season - the Anfield ‘7’ at Huntington, which he won with a 17-57.

In the MLCA ‘10’, Doug Phillips ensured that I knew that Andy Massey had done a "22, but I don’t know the seconds," and that the same was true of Pete Davies. Doug says we had a third rider who did a "23", and we would surely have won the team prize … if there was one.

Also, readers of the comic will have noticed that Rachel Heal came 8th in the recent GP Feminas Castilla y Leon women’s World Cup race, in a bunch of 23. Well done Rachel!

Do you think you did a notable ride? Or do you think your mate did, but he (or she!) is too shy to shout about it? Well let me know and I’ll include it in a future month!

Marshalling Reminder

The paper newsletter at this point shows upcoming events on the Marshalling Rota. Here, I'll just provide a link to the Rota page:

London Marathon

Les Kennedy is once again running in this year’s London Marathon on 13th April. I don’t know why: I keep telling him it’s a lot quicker to do 26 miles on a bike! Anyway, in addition to trying to beat his time for last year of 3 hours 45 (in fact he’s trying to go under 3-15) he is being sponsored for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust.

Last year he raised over £1200 for this worthy cause. If you would like to help sponsor him, then send a cheque (payable to "The Anthony Nolan Trust") to Les at 9 Weymoor Close, Spital, CH63 9HG. Or you can give online at http://www.justgiving.com/leskennedy/

Stop Press: I can reveal that, after falling prey to a bout of cramp, Les completed the course in 3 hours 47 minutes. Still a fantastic effort, and still worthy of your support!
